Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayyat visited the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab Head Office here on Monday. During the visit, Director General (DG) PDMA Mudassar Waheed Malik briefed the NDMA Chairman regarding pre-monsoon and pre-flood arrangements made by the PDMA.

The PDMA has started pre-flood arrangements and all district disaster management authorities (DDMAs) have been taken on board. Mock exercises have also been conducted in different districts, said the DG PDMA. He said six meetings have been conducted on cabinet committee on floods under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Disaster Management Maher Ijaz Achlana, and all the provincial and federal departments have been requested for pre-flood arrangements. He said the PDMA Punjab has also started integration with other departments like Irrigation, Rescue 1122 and Met Office in order to keep all stakeholders on board. He said the PDMA Punjab has also introduced inventory management system which will help in real time monitoring. He said the PDMA has also installed satellite based tracking system and have also taken disaster risk reduction initiatives. While appreciating the pre-flood arrangements of PDMA, the Chairman NDMA assured all out efforts and support to PDMA in case of any emergency.
